Your instrument should get out of your way.
Setups, fret work, electronics, and repairs for electric guitars and basses, handled by Dan from start to finish.
Built around the way you play.
A setup is not a factory reset. String gauge, touch, tuning, bridge, pickups, and the way you attack the instrument all change what “right” feels like.
I work on electric guitars and basses for players who can feel when an instrument is making the job harder. That might be high action, notes that choke out, fret buzz, an instrument that will not intonate, scratchy controls, a weak jack, or hardware that has never felt settled.
We will talk about what the instrument is doing now and what you want it to do. Then I make the adjustments and repairs that bring those two things together. You hand the instrument to the person doing the work, not to a retail service counter.

“His attention to detail and understanding of both tone and playability always leave my guitars feeling and sounding better than ever. He's got the touch!”Ryan JalbertThe Motet
Set up, repaired, and ready to play.
Most work starts with the same question: is the problem in the setup, the frets, the hardware, or the electronics?
I handle standard and tremolo setups, 12-string electrics, Floyd Rose bridges, fret level and crown work, pickup and preamp installation, pots and jacks, hardware changes, and synthetic or custom bone nuts.

A player before a repair tech.
I pulled apart my first bass to learn how it worked and how to make it play better. That curiosity became an apprenticeship with Steve Balkun at Balkun Guitars, then a job managing the Warwick Basses and Framus Guitars North American showroom and repair shop in New York City.
Working with hundreds of professionals and hobbyists taught me that the setup has to fit the player. I returned to the Denver area in 2017 and now bring that same attention to every appointment here.
